This course will cover the basics of oil painting while also reviewing drawing fundamentals. Students will learn to use painting materials, color theory and color mixing. Class will review and address drawing topics such as material exploration, understanding shape and form, structure, proportion, light and shade, values and tones, and composition. Subjects will include still life, the model and personal topics. This course encourage the student's individual development, and through the newly acquired/honed technical skills enhance personal expression.The class will discuss the interaction of visual elements, and various approaches to painting. The course will revisit drawing proportion and composition.
